ice lantern

The arctic has sunsets to take your breath away, but catch them quickly,  because in the blinking of an eye they are gone.
a straggling beam from tonight's sunset illuminates a sea ice lantern.
A little light house for the seals.
Magical.

  2. Thanks. I took that on a very chilly walk with Loren and Sadie. Say what you will about the cold temperatures, they sure do yield spectacular sunsets!

  3. How beautiful!!! I'm so glad you captured them to share with all of us! These should be in an Alaskan "picture book."

  6. I stumbled upon your blog a while back and have since been following it. Don't mean to hound you, just wondering if you planned to post any storm photos? Thanks for sharing the interesting tid bits of your life. ;)

  7. Hi Anon.
I keep meaning to do that... I don't have any epic-ly amazing ones... just a few of the big waves, but fortunately/unfortunately it was dark when the storm surge was at its peak level and flooding our yard. I should have taken a picture of all the driftwood that got washed up before it snowed 2 feet this week. I'll try and get around to posting some storm pictures soon though. Thanks for visiting our little slice of Alaskan life!
